This drama inspired by real events narrates the journey of Dian Fossey (Sigourney Weaver), who arrives in Africa to carry out a census of a species in danger of extinction: the mountain gorilla. She soon becomes fascinated by the life of these animals, with whom she establishes a relationship of respect and affection. In her efforts to protect this species, Dr. Fossey has serious problems with the authorities and poachers, who sell the young gorillas to zoos and kill the adult gorillas.

This romantic comedy is about Abby (Janeane Garofalo), a successful veterinarian and radio host who has a show about animals.
